I'm in the middle of replaying Baldur's Gate 2 - SoA & ToB. It's comforting to see that this game has held up to the test of time and is still as great as it was the day it was released (better, actually, as the official and unofficial patches made the experience seamless). It looks like Atari currently holds the rights to the Baldur's Gate series and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a Baldur's Gate 3 before we saw another Neverwinter Nights title. Hopefully they'll pick a development studio that can do it justice.
Other than that, I'm just waiting for the release of Fable 2 next Tuesday and Fallout 3 the following Tuesday. I'll be receiving both on the day of release and will be doing full reviews on each. I'm especially looking forward to Fallout 3, as a huge fan of the first two as well as a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, I'm excited to see what Besthesda did with the series. I'm sure, regardless if it strayed too far from its roots or not, it'll still be a lot of fun. Anyways, look for both of those reviews roughly a week after each is released.
I'm also considering picking up Dead Space to review in the meantime... We'll see.
When I loaded up Crysis Warhead for the first time (which, in a nice change of pace for an EA published game, was aquired through Valve's Steam distribution service) it immediately brought back fond memories of my first experience playing the original Crysis demo and the awe attached to it. Many games have come out since that rival Crysis in the graphics and gameplay department, but in my opinion Crysis set a gold standard for First Person Shooters and still holds it strong to this day.
Crysis Warhead is the first stand alone expansion pack for the 2007 hit Crysis by the German developer Crytek, creator of the breakthrough First Person Shooter, Far Cry. Crytek set a new standard for graphics, physics, interactive environments, and gameplay in the First Person Shoot genre with Crysis and they carry it on with Crysis Warhead. During Warhead, you play as Psycho, a character from the original game and take part in events which are occuring in parallel to the original story line, experiencing the effects of Nomad's (the protagonist from Crysis) actions taking place elsewhere on the island.
In March of 2007 a relatively unknown developer from the Ukraine, GSC Game World, introduced us to a post apocalyptic vision that brought back fond memories of classic games such as Fallout and Wasteland but with the play style of a First Person Shooter with minor RPG elements, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. The game's release was met with mixed reviews due to a slew of bugs which plagued it upon release. However, due to the innovative game play, compelling story, and gorgeous graphics it was able to overcome the negative publicity and technical shortcomings and has became what many view as a modern classic.
Fast forward to September of 2008; after over a year of anticipation and hype, GSC Game World releases the prequel to S:SOC, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. Unfortunately it seems that GSC Game World failed to learn from the mistakes of S:SOC and repeated many of them in S:CS. The game's international release was riddled with show stopping bugs once again, as well as content which led many fans of S:SOC to ask themselves what exactly they were paying for. Fortunately by the time the September 15th US street date came around, GSC Game World had issued patched which fixed many of the shop stopping bugs as well as tweaked a couple elements of the gameplay which had left many international players and reviewers with a bad taste in their mouths.
A site for individuals like me, who love gaming but are uncoordinated as can be.
Soon we'll be launching and offering reviews which give a fresh perspective on video games on the PC and across all console platforms, one from someone who isn't all that coordinated but still wishes to play them. If you're a fellow uncoordinated gamer that wishes to write reviews to be published here, please contact me at dthigpen@uncoordinatedgamer.com or just create an account and post them in the forum.
